When Lil Wayne announced "I just signed a deal with my motherf–king idol Jay Z" at Summer Jam in Oakland, social media went nuts assuming he signed with Jay Z's Roc Nation label. We all know about Tunechi's current beef with longtime mentor Baby from his current label Cash Money Records. So when Weezy dropped this on stage, everyone assumed the partnership was in essence a label switch. That does not appear to be the case.
The announcement was regarding Wayne's new business venture as am artist owner on the streaming site Tidal, which Jay Z owns a share of. He dropped his new track, "Glory" from the Free Weezy Album, exclusively on Tidal just a few days ago. Case solved. Now the conclusion of the Weezy/Baby and Cash Money situation will drag on for I don't know how long. We'll keep you updated.
